C-Word Ocean Charters

Halibut

Our halibut offshore days are spent about 30- 45 miles from the port on some of the best halibut grounds in the Washington State! These grounds offer amazing experiences and even better stories. We fish 4 rods at a time during this fishery.  Trust us, You will have plenty of time on a rod to get your fill of fishing. This is a very physically tiring fishery. We have electric reels that make it easy for most people to fish as well as custom rod holders so if you are not able to hold your rod just leave it in the holder. After halibut limits are acquired, we target trophy lingcod and/or rockfish before returning to port.

Things You should know:

  • May and June,  With possible opportunities in August and September if the quota remains
  • We have Diawa Tancom 750 electric reels for everyone on board.
  • We filet and bag your catch for the ride home.
  • We want everyone to go home with a smile on their face and a bag full of fish.  Therefore we split the catch between all anglers.
  • Halibut trips are 8-10 hours.
  • We depart the Marina at first light. So plan on being at the marina at 5 a.m
  • All fishing gear is included.  Please inquire before bringing any personal fishing gear aboard.
  • Balance is due prior to your charter’s departure.  A gratuity of 15-20% for the deckhands is customary.

What to bring

  • A valid Washington State saltwater fishing license with a halibut punch card is required.
  • Plan for all types of weather.  We recommend extra layers and a full set of rain gear, including waterproof shoes.  Knee boots are the preferred footwear for these trips since we are constantly washing down the deck.
  • A sack lunch, snacks, and drinks.  It’s a long day on the water so plan to bring plenty of food and drinks.  Pack your lunch and snacks in a small lunchbox or bag.
  • Please no glass containers.
  • Beer is fine on the boat.  But please don’t be that guy that gets out of hand.  We will end your trip early and there won’t be a refund.
  • Don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • A cooler to leave in your car to take your catch home.
